In the summer of 2015 I participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in Civil and Cyber security. During this program I researched an innovative type of seismic dampening device that utilized a NiTi shape memory alloy as its core. I studied and tested a prototype of the device in order to investigate its load bearing capacity as well as its self-centering capabilities and wrote a scientific paper on my findings. I am also currently a member of the American Society for Civil Engineers (ASCE).
